Spicy Shrimp Diablo!!

So if you are into spicy…like I’m in to spicy…this is the dish for you!! Oh Yea…and you should probably like shrimp too! Of course I do…and that is how I came up with this delicious recipe!!

This dish is very similar to a dish that I order from our local mexican food restaurant…and being the Mexican Food connoisseur that I am …I’ve never had a dish like this until I moved to Kansas…go figure…having lived in Southern California for over 30 years…you would have thought that I would have been exposed to this deliciousness of marinated shrimp in a spicy chipotle sauce…but NO!! I had to move to Kansas to find this gem!!

Here is what I used…

I started by preparing

some fresh cut veggies…

  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup of chopped peppers (I used red & green)
  • 3 TBSP. minced garlic
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes

Then I sauteed the veggies in a little butter…adding in the tomatoes once the onions and peppers were soft…

Then I created the spicy sauce that these plump little shrimp would be cooked in…to the veggies I added…

  • 1 heaping teaspoon of pureed chipotle in adobo sauce. ( I buy the can and then throw it in the blender)
  • 1/4 cup of worchester sauce
  • 1/2 cup of beer
  • 1/4 cup of ¬†barbecue sauce
  • The juice of 1 lime

Blend all together, then add your shrimp…I used 1 lb of large shrimp peeled and deveined…

Cook until the shrimp are pink…and serve immediately…I served mine with a side of Mexican style rice…

This dish will definitely tickle your taste buds…you have the spice and smokiness from the chipotle and ¬†hint of sweet with the barbeque sauce! So Yummy!! I hope you try it!!
