Oreo Cookie Balls!!

My family loves Oreo’s…or maybe it’s just my husbands obsession, but in over 25 years of running this household, very rarely have we ever ran out of these chocolate sandwich cookies. And I am sorry to say…it has to be Oreo brand for us. You know there are something’s you can buy the generic or off brand for and there are some things you just can’t!! For us…this is the one you can’t substitute…it has to be Oreo’s.

So with Valentines Day quickly approaching…here is a really simple candy like treat that you can make with Oreo’s.

Here is what you will need;

  • 1 package of Oreo cookies. (I used original, but a flavored one could work as well)
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • 6 squares of vanilla almond bark or candy coat
  • assorted sprinkles for topping
  • 1 large ziplock bag

Here is what you do…

Place the entire package of Oreo’s in the zip lock bag and crush, finely. I used my rolling pin to beat and then roll to get the smallest pieces possible.

Place the crumbs in a bowl and add the cream cheese. Microwave until the cream cheese is almost melted. (about 1 minute) Make sure you put a napkin over the bowl to prevent the cream cheese from splattering and making a mess in your microwave. 🙂

Then stir well, until a creamy mixture.

Form into 1 inch balls, then chill in the freezer for 30 minutes.

Next…melt your vanilla candy /bark…in a small bowl…in the microwave 30 seconds at a time…stirring after each time until smooth and creamy.

Roll your chilled balls into the candy coating and place on a lined cookie sheet. (I used wax paper) Sprinkle with sprinkles and let cool. (I put them back in the freezer to quicken the process)

Once the candy coating has set your done!! These are some awesome little balls of goodness!!
