Cheese Steak Pizza!

Pizza is the perfect vehicle for being creative! I mean really…you can top a pizza crust with just about any you like! You can make them for breakfast or for dessert… you can make them the traditional way…like in a pizzeria…or you can get creative and just top them with whatever your heart desires!!

On this particular night…I decided I wanted to make a pizza with my favorite flavors of a Cheesesteak! How could I go wrong with the taste of sauteed onions,  peppers and mushrooms and seasoned thin steak and all that melty goodness of cheese!! Yummy!!

Here is what I did;

I started by sauteing 1 small white onion in a couple of tablespoons of olive oil.

Then I added 2 of these frozen cheese steak patties…I bought these at Wal-Mart (Wal-Mart brand but Steak-Ums are good too) I seasoned them with salt, pepper and garlic powder. These steaks are cut really thin and once they start cooking they are the perfect consistancy and just like what you would find on a cheesesteak sandwich!

Next I added 1 green pepper thinly sliced…On top of the steak and onions…

and then 5-6 button mushrooms sliced as well… Once the veggies were tender I added 2 tablespoons of Worchester sauce and 1 tablespoon of ketchup….for that great cheesecake seasoning…

Meanwhile I prepared my pizza dough and placed it on my pizza sheet… I like to poke holes in the dough with a fork and pre-cook the dough for about 5 minutes at 400…just to ensure the crust cooks through and evenly…

For the base of the Pizza I brushed  it with a little olive oil and topped it with  about 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of garlic powder…

Then topped it with the pre-cooked steak and vegetables mixture…and of course more cheese… I used fresh mozzarella…but a good provolone would be great too!

I baked it at 440 degrees until the cheese melted to golden perfection and the crust was crisp and brown…

As a finishing touch I added some sliced green onions…

This Pizza was AMAZING!! It had all of the flavors as a traditional Cheesesteak sandwich…but in a Pizza!! That’s what I call a WIN WIN!! I hope you try this and see how great it is…if you do please let me know!!

I would love to hear from you!
